EOS TODO
Installation guide
Install and open EOS Todo on Mac
The current package supports Apple Silicon (M-series) Macs only. Intel Macs are not supported. Download from EOS and move the app into Applications before opening it.
- Download the Mac installer and open the DMG.
- Drag EOS Todo into Applications, then open it from Applications.
- The app has an integrity signature, but it is not signed with an Apple Developer ID and has not been notarized by Apple. This signature does not mean Apple has verified the developer. macOS may show an unidentified developer warning on first launch.
- If you trust the download source and the file has not been altered, first try opening the app. Then go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, find the EOS Todo notice, choose Open Anyway and confirm the system prompt.
A managed Mac may restrict this option; contact your administrator. Older macOS versions may use different settings names.
If macOS reports a damaged or harmful app
This is a different warning. Stop opening it, download again from EOS and contact [email protected] with the exact message. Do not disable system security or use commands to remove quarantine attributes as a blanket workaround.
Permissions and connected features
Grant screen recording permission when macOS requests it for screenshots. Manage access in Privacy & Security and timer notifications in system notification settings. AI requires sign-in and valid Pro access. Pro includes optional end-to-end encrypted cloud sync.

Cloud sync and recovery
Sign in with active Todo Pro access, open Account settings and enable cloud sync. Set a separate sync passphrase and save the recovery code. On another computer, sign in to the same account and unlock with that passphrase or code. Tasks marked local-only stay on that device.
Task content and images are encrypted on your computer before upload. The server still processes account, object-size and synchronization metadata. Each account has 1 GB of image storage, up to 5,000 objects and 10 MB per encrypted image. If storage fills, new images stay local while text can still sync. Conflicting offline text is retained as a recoverable copy in settings.
Turning off the account sync switch pauses synchronization on all devices using that account; local and cloud data are retained. Resetting cloud sync clears cloud tasks and images, keeps local tasks, and requires other devices to reconnect. If you lose both the sync passphrase and recovery code, EOS cannot decrypt the cloud content. Keep an independent local backup.
Windows installation and updates
Download the current Windows installer
Installation
For Windows x64. Quit EOS Todo before running the installer. The default location is %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\EOS Todo for the current user, without administrator privileges. The installer checks and installs WebView2, which may require internet access. Launch from the desktop or Start menu.
First launch
If Windows shows a publisher or security warning, verify the download came from this site or the official mirror before choosing an available option to continue. Contact your administrator if organizational policy blocks it.
Data and backups
Local tasks are stored in %APPDATA%\eos-todolist. Quit the app and copy the entire directory to back up the database and related files. Back up existing data before restoring. Uninstalling preserves this directory. Pro includes optional end-to-end encrypted cloud sync. Keep a separate local backup and save your sync passphrase and recovery code.
Updates and startup
Check for updates in About, then confirm before downloading and installing. Use the same installation directory for upgrades. A retained installer in the cache does not mean another download is running; you do not need to reinstall the same version. To launch at sign-in, copy a shortcut into the current-user folder opened with Win + R → shell:startup.
Help
Use in-app feedback or [email protected]. Do not include credentials or private tasks.

Linux installation and startup
The current Linux download is a .tar.gz archive for x64 computers. Ubuntu 24.04 or later is the supported baseline; the app requires glibc, GTK 4 and WebKitGTK 6.0.
1. Install the system dependencies
On Ubuntu 24.04 or later, open Terminal and run:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install libgtk-4-1 libwebkitgtk-6.0-4These commands install system libraries and may ask for your administrator password. Other distributions need compatible GTK 4 and WebKitGTK 6.0 packages; package names vary.
2. Extract the download
Find the downloaded eos-todo_…_linux-amd64.tar.gz archive in your Downloads folder. Right-click it and choose Extract Here, or use your archive manager. Open the resulting EOS-Todo folder. Keep the binary, core directory and installation scripts together.
3. Install for your user
Inside the extracted EOS-Todo folder, right-click an empty area and choose Open in Terminal. Quit any running EOS Todo instance, then run:
sh ./install-user.shDo not use sudo for this step. The script installs the app and its core into ~/.local/share/eos-todo, then adds an application-menu entry at ~/.local/share/applications/eos-todo.desktop. Wait for the “EOS Todo installed to …” message.
4. Start EOS Todo
Open your desktop’s application menu, search for EOS Todo, and launch it. If the menu has not refreshed yet, start the installed app from Terminal:
"$HOME/.local/share/eos-todo/eos-todo"Once the installed copy launches successfully, you can remove the downloaded archive and extracted EOS-Todo folder. Keep the installed directory in ~/.local/share/eos-todo.
Updates and local data
Use Check for updates in About. To upgrade manually, quit EOS Todo, extract the newer archive into a separate folder, and run its sh ./install-user.sh again. It replaces the installed program while retaining local task data. Do not run the script from the installed directory itself.
Local data is normally stored in ~/.config/eos-todolist, or $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/eos-todolist when that environment variable is set. Quit the app before copying that entire directory for a backup.
If the app does not open
If Terminal reports missing GTK or WebKit shared libraries, install the dependencies above. If a Wayland session opens a blank window or no window, quit the app and try this once from Terminal:
WEBKIT_DISABLE_COMPOSITING_MODE=1 "$HOME/.local/share/eos-todo/eos-todo"For other startup errors, send your distribution version, desktop session (Wayland or X11) and Terminal output to [email protected]. Remove private content before sending.
